Council House 2
Value: $6.8 million
JLWs expertise in energy efficient buildings stood it in good stead when bidding for the Council House project. It is the worlds first 6 green star energy rated building with “premium grade” services. Whilst we have had extensive experience in constructing energy efficient buildings like Toga House and Piers 8 & 9 in Sydney, and Cairns Government offices in Queensland, the Council House 2 project represents a new benchmark in the energy efficient built environment. Innovative features include Passive Chilled Ceiling Panels, Passive Chilled Beams, Absorption Water Chiller, Phase Change Modules, Convective finned Heating Elements, Shower Towers, Electrostatic and UV Water Treatment System and Wind Turbines. Casey Hospital

Yarras Edge Buildings 2, 3 & 5
Value: $10.1 million
Dominating the luxury apartment market, Mirvac has developed and built an extension of the Southbank river promenade with Yarra’s Edge, north-facing riverfront towers. JLWs reputation for quality work, technical excellence and competent staff proved essential when bidding the Yarras Edge Project. Attention to detail and the quest to perfect work cycles is essential in any project, but absolutely vital in constructing high rise apartment buildings. The attitude, build it once - build it right, and no re-work helped cement a great relationship with the Mirvac on site and Management staff, and the completion of projects on time, with very few concerns from the apartment owners. BHP-Billiton Q.V.3
Value: $13 million
Value: $6 million (Q.V.3)
The Q.V project is Melbourne’s latest icon. With the BHP-Billiton building as its most dominant feature, a 22 level highrise office tower with 40,000m2 of conditioned floor space and a side core plant on each level. The Q.V.3 building is the home of Sensis. Consisting of 5 levels of conditioned office space in a mirrored design surrounding a central core, with a central plant on the roof top. Grocon and JLW have again set the benchmark for office environments in Australia. Crown Casino
Value: $12 million
Being initially awarded the contract to install and commission the Central Plant and Laundry Mechanical Services, supplying equipment and pipework to cater for the never ending requirement of heating and chilled water for the project, has set the momentum for the management and installation of the unique Crown’s ‘Seasons of Fortune’ Atrium Water Features experience. JLW was also awarded the Mechanical Services at the Clarke Street Development which houses Crown’s offices, staff facilities and public car park for the Crown patrons. These projects were awarded because JLW has the quality resources, expertise and track record to handle projects of this magnitude, quality and complexity. Australian Geological Survey Organisation
Value: $16 million
The largest geothermal system in Australia demonstrates the principles of Ecological Sustainable Development (ESD) endorsed by the Department of Primary Industries and Energy, of which AGSO is part, and towards which much of AGSO’s activity is directed. The geothermal system capitalises on the Earth’s moderate temperature. Water is circulated through pipes buried beneath the Earth’s surface. In winter the water collects heat from the Earth and carries it through the system into the building. In summer the system reverses to pull heat from the building and transfer it to the Earth. ANZ Bank
Value: $10.5 million
A brilliant blend of Gothic revived heritage architecture with a backdrop of a superbly sympathetic and harmonious high-rise environment. Retrofitting Heritage buildings is a huge task, very capably undertaken by Grocon and a team of highly skilled staff at JLW. The ANZ Bank was delighted with their new world headquarters and JLW was particularly proud of the occasion as one of the banks oldest customers and one of only a handful of customers with over 100 years as our banker. The project’s success was to stand us in good stead when the no. 1 Martin Place project in Sydney was tendered. Rialto Twin Towers
Value: $22 million
Rialto Towers is the tallest reinforced concrete structure in the Southern Hemisphere and is a stand-out attribute to the Melbourne skyline. Rialto is a linked, two tower development standing at 270m.
